PPGAI 6TH International Grooming Competition

Novice Class Salon Freestyle Eligibility:

Only for groomers with LESS THAN 3 years of grooming experience

Only those who have never won 'Best in Show' or three 1st placements in any previous grooming contests

Not for Owners or Breeders who have "finished a champion"

Not for Instructors, Judges, or Certifiers
Open Class Salon Freestyle Eligibility:
Open to all Competitor, /Stylist, and professionall groomers. A contestant placing and defeating someone inthe open division at any show is prohibited from competing inthe intermediate or entry division.
DOGS BREEDS ACCEPTED FOR ALL SALON FREESTYLE CLASSES

All breeds that can display a noticeable change post-grooming will be accepted.

Preferred breeds - long-coated dogs (e.g., Shih Tzu, Maltese, Lhasa Apso, Yorkshire Terrier, Poodle, Poodle Mixes, Bichon, Pomeranian, Chow Chow, Cocker Spaniel, etc.)

Breeds not accepted - Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Saint Bernard, Setters, Labrador, etc.
Show Dog Class:

Open to all Competitors/ Breeders/Stylists/Professional groomers.

Only showing standard grooming on long-haired dogs will be accepted

Breeds to consider -

Scissoring - Poodle (all sizes), Bichon, Bedlington Terrier, Kerry Blue Terrier, Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier and Other scissoring breeds

Hand stripping - Schnauzer (all sizes), Cocker Spaniel, Wire Fox Terrier, and Other wire-coated breeds requiring Hand stripping
Model Dog Mixed Class: (Grooming on Fake Fur Model Dogs)

Open to all Competitors/ Breeders/Stylists/Professional groomers.

All types of styles are allowed, including creative grooming.

Breed standard haircut on the model dog wig: Bichon - Breed standard, Poodle - Lamb Trim / Scandinavian Trim/ Continental Trim

All contestants must carry their model dog skeleton and good good-quality wig
-
Wigs MUST be fixed on the skeleton and brushed out thoroughly before entering the show ring

ALL CLASSES MUST PREPARE THEIR DOGS BEFORE ENTERING THE COMPETITION RING.

KNOTS AND MATTS WILL LEAD TO A MINUS MARKING BY THE JUDGE

CONTESTANTS ARE ALLOWED TO WASH AND BRUSH THEIR DOGS BEFORE THE COMPETITION

SANITARY TRIM - PAWS AND HYGIENE AREA MAY BE TRIMMED IN ADVANCE (EXCEPT POODLE PAWS)

NAILS MUST BE CUT AND FILED BEFORE

EARS MAY BE PLUCKED AND CLEANED BEFORE THE COMPETITION
Competitor conduct:

All competitors must wear competition aprons
-
Appropriate grooming attire and shoes should be worn at all times. Slippers, shorts, etc., will not be allowed.d

Professional manner, attitude, and good sportsmanship must be practiced at all times. These attributes are displayed when a competitor respects fellow competitors, judges, and contest dogs.

Contestants must maintain a safe styling station at all times, (open scissors left on the table for the dog to step on is an example of an unsafe styling station,) practice safe handling techniques at all times, apply technical skills with safety. Nicks, cuts and clipper burns are considered unsafe technical skill applications.
ANY GRIEVANCES MUST BE ADDRESSED BEFORE THE WINNERS ARE ANNOUNCED
Strictly Prohibited in Contest Ring:
Cell phones, radios, and headsets, hair dryers, flame devices or smoking, beverages not in spill-proof containers, visual or written instructions, very large tack boxes, kennel crates, standing on tables or chairs, coaching by anyone at any time during the competition
Warnings and Disqualifications:
Judges and Show Management will monitor the contestants during the competition to ensure a professional atmosphere is maintained. Warnings may be given to include: unprofessional image, unprofessional conduct, unsafe skill application, unsafe grooming station, unsafe handling, etc. A second warning may result in dismissal from the class. A third warning may result in dismissal from the show.
ALL DECISIONS OF THE JUDGE WILL BE FINAL. THERE WILL BE NO GRIEVANCES CONSIDERED AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS.

Minimum Age: Must be above 10 months old

The dog’s coat must not be trimmed for at least 1 month (4 weeks) for Level C (with sufficient length for good turnover), -2 months (8 weeks) for Level B, and Level A.

Participating dogs’ coats must be well brushed to their original length for the Competition Class.

Any participants found guilty of pre-pruning or pre-marking activities will be penalized as appropriate in the final points awarded.
A) Participants are required to shampoo and blow-dry the participating dog before heading to the certification venue.
B) Competition Time & Result Level

Competition Time: 2 Hours for all categories, all breeds, except Standard Poodle will be given 30 minutes extra (2 hours and 30 minutes)
Note:
(1) All participants are required to enter the certification ring 1 hour before certification/competition commences.
(2) The late comers will be allowed to participate, but shall not be given extension in the certification/competition time.
(3) For all categories in Level A, only standard grooming is allowed.
(4) To become an MGA Master Groomer, you need to pass all 3 categories in Level A with above 90 passing points.
(5) Dogs falling from the table or injured dogs will not be scored.
(6) Incomplete work will not be judged.
(7) Must put on the apron provided by PPGAI; no school or any brand uniform is allowed in the ring.
(8) Candidates must bring their grooming tools. A grooming table will be provided.
(9) The judge’s decision will be final.
(10) On the certification day, fully paid certificate fees and 2 passport-size photos will be required.
